Submissions

Kia ora,

Bateman Books publishes a select range of high-quality books, specialising in illustrated non-fiction, commercial fiction and children’s/YA books. We do not publish poetry or short stories and we do not accept any text or illustrations that are AI-generated.

Submissions are now closed until further notice. Any received now will not be considered unless they are through a literary agent or from a previously published Bateman author.

You’ll need to submit the following:

• Synopsis
• Intended market/target audience
• Some background information about yourself and any writing experience
• One or two sample chapters, or the whole MS if it’s a picture book
• For children’s picture books, please include illustrations or an idea of illustrators you like the style of.

Please note the books we publish must have some connection to Aotearoa New Zealand, whether it’s theme, content, setting or author.

Please send any submission queries to Jemma Moreira at: [email protected]

Ngā mihi.
