Submissions

Kia ora,

Bateman Books publishes a select range of high-quality books, specialising in illustrated non-fiction, commercial fiction and children’s/YA books.

Submissions are now closed and will only reopen when we have finished assessing the manuscripts we received in July. Any submissions received now will not be considered unless they come through a literary agent or are from our published authors.

To prepare a submission, you’ll need:

• Synopsis
• Intended market/target audience
• Some background information about yourself and any writing experience
• One or two sample chapters, or the whole MS if it’s a picture book
• For children’s picture books, please include illustrations or an idea of illustrators you like the style of.

Please note the books we publish must have some connection to Aotearoa New Zealand, whether it’s theme, content, setting or author
