Description

Salvador Dali between revolution and tradition: a journey through his artistic influences, from Renaissance masters to surrealism, blending technical mastery with visionary imagination.

Two souls coexisted within the genius of Salvador Dali: one revolutionary, the other deeply rooted in the great tradition of painting. The volume, edited by Lucia Moni and Carme Ruiz, with scientific supervision by Montse Aguer, presents a close dialogue with art history, counterpointed by a comparison with Pablo Picasso, an emblem of revolution and modernity. Dali. Revolution and Tradition also explores the artist’s relationship with the masters who most deeply influenced his vision-Velazquez, Vermeer, and Raphael, his favourite painters-highlighting how his pursuit of technical perfection and formal harmony intertwines with surrealist irreverence and a constant drive toward innovation. Alongside masterpieces inspired by the great artists of the past, the volume also features a selection of illustrations for the book 50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship, a testament to Dali’s profound reflections on art, technique, and creation.
