Bill Wurtzel was an award-winning advertising creative director by day and jazz guitarist by night. He is now a full-time musician. He has played with many jazz greats, including the Count Basie Countsmen, Bill Doggett, and Jimmy McGriff. Wurtzel has made fun, healthy food art to amuse his wife Claire for more than 50 years. Together they do workshops in schools, museums, and other institutions to make it fun for kids and families to learn about nutrition. He has had many gallery exhibits of his food art prints.
Claire Wurtzel has been an educator for 40 years. She works with educators in schools and museums to guide them in their work with students who have academic or behavioral challenges. She was on the faculty of Bank Street Graduate School for 17 years, where she taught courses, implemented programs with the New York City Department of Education, and chaired the Department of Special Education. She works with teachers, administrators, psychologists, librarians, families, and museum educators both nationally and internationally.
